A - Parajanov at the IFF Arsenāls: 1991/ 2000

From 18-21 April 1991 the International New Cinema Centre in collaboration with the Armenian Society in Latvia organised a series of commemorative events in honour of Sergei Prajanov. These included an exhibition of his collages, screenings of his best films "Shadows Of The Forgotten Ancestors" and "Legend of Suram Fortress", a premiere of A. Kaidanovski's documentary about Sergei "Maestro" and screenings of various documentary and video materials. Sergei's widow Svetlana Scherbatiuk and his colleagues, Armenian filmmakers and musicians, joined us in Riga.
In September 2000 during the IFF Arsenāls the Sergei Parajanov Fashion House was opened at the Museum of Applied Arts. His collages were shining again and colourful images filled the halls alongside a video projection of "The Colour of Pomegranates". Zaven Sarkisyan, the director of the Sergei Parajanov Museum, joined us on this occasion.
